WHY ?
Nation Shakers
June 26, 2006
Nation Shakers
Hello Fellow Nation Shakers
I am writing today after preaching in Georgetown, Tx. I wanted to share some to the message I preached as my article this time.
I am about to go to Chicago, Illinois to preach in various churches in the Indiana and Illinois area. I am excited about it and believing that God is going to do a great work. I will be traveling for 12 days and would appreciate your prayers. The month of July I will be in Lafeyette, Louisiana at an Apostolic World Christian Fellowship Regional Meeting and I also have been invited to Italy and Sicily in July.
Now to my article.
Mark 15:14-34
14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
KJV
Isa 53:4-5
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
KJV
1 Peter 2:24
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
KJV
I would like for you to notice Matthew 15: 34 in particular where the scripture says My God, My God, Why? Hast thou forsaken me.
As they held a mock trial for Jesus, brought false witnesses to accuse him. In this so called courtroom. Like so many of the Nations of this world where there is no Justice. Precious Human Beings tortured and killed for the Name of Jesus and never having a fair trial. And yet at Jesus’ trial he never asked Why? Why is this happening to me?
And then as Judas went out into the night to sell out possibly the only true friend that he had. The purest, most kind person that had ever come in his life. I don’t know Judas’ life before Jesus came into it but I suspect that he must have had a pretty dysfunctional life. For him to be so selfish as to sell out the Lord of Glory. And yet even as Judas forsook him he never asked Why?
And then Peter with all his good intentions just could not stand up under the pressure and though he said he would die for Jesus denied that he had ever known him. And he was supposed to be an Apostle. And yet even at this Jesus never asked Why?
And as Pilate Vacillated and all but admitted that Jesus was a King and yet when the Political Situation caused him to sell out one more time and based on his decision they took Jesus to the whipping post and to Calvary and yet Jesus never asked Why?
The Garden gave no answers and though he cried out for deliverance from the Cup of sin. Yet he never once asked Why?
Finally when the Spirit of God Exited his Body he screamed, “My God , My God , Why hast thou forsaken me.
He cried why only as he was left void of the Spirit and was leaving this world. Because he knew that one day at the lowest points in our lives that when we did not understand why all hell had broken out in our lives that we would scream out Why?
The most difficult time to pray and feel the presence of God is when Hell has come to your door. You just don’t sense the presence of God.
And all you can say is Why? Why me? Why my Marriage? Why my Child? Why my ministry? Why are no doors open for me?
Jesus is a reasonable God and he does not mind you asking these questions….
Isa 1:18
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith Jehovah: though your sins be as scarlet , they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
ASV
He reasoned with Peter at the Sea of Tiberius and said “Lovest thou Me? Do you Agape me with a Precious kind of Love and all Peter could muster up was Phileo, I have failed you even unto your death and how could Peter say anything but I am fond of you Jesus”. You know my weakness. And 3 times the Lord said I know Peter but I want to use you even in your failures.
I am sure that Peter walked around that night in agony screaming Why? Why did I deny him? I loved him. And yet Peters failure in the eyes of Jesus was not fatal. He had even gone back fishing. How many Preachers have gone back to their old professions in a backslidden state or at the very least just burned out. And Jesus is saying you can ask why? Because when I asked Why at Calvary it cleared up all of your questions.
I trust great things will come from you Nation Shakers.
I found in my notes of another sermon I had preached and I quote this in honor of my fellow laborers in the Nations
“Elijah had his Juniper Trees and he had his disappointments but on his worst day he prophesied the defeat of Ahab and Jezebel.
And my precious Preacher or Saint of God on your worst day hell still shakes at you taking another breath and in your defeat and in your sadness and in your sorrow that breath that you took exhales with the name of Jesus and Hell trembles once again.
So in your asking Why? Jesus’ why answers all of yours.
God Bless You Richly
